Breaking the Silence: Magnifying the Voices of Survivors Through Education, Relationships, and Community
Welcome to Breaking the Silence: Magnifying the Voices of Survivors through Education, Relationships, & Community, a space where we have real, informative, and impactful conversations about the commercial sexual exploitation of children - also known as CSEC. Whether you’re a caregiver, a professional working with youth, or simply someone looking to learn more about this issue, you’re in the right place.
This podcast was created by Westcoast Children’s Clinic and funded by California Department of Social Services to educate, equip, and empower caregivers, community members, and professionals with the knowledge and tools to recognize, prevent, and respond to child exploitation. Throughout the episodes, there will be others from our CSEC Training Team joining us as well as community members and advocates. We know that for many, this is an overwhelming and difficult topic. But education is one of the most powerful tools in prevention and intervention. Through these discussions, we want to demystify CSEC, break down the myths, and offer practical, real-world insights so you can be informed and take action where needed.

Joined by experts Skyler Larkin, Shenelle Jackson, and Bianca Hill, we break down what exploitation can look like, who may be vulnerable, and how traffickers often operate. This conversation is designed to help caregivers, providers, and community members better understand the realities of exploitation and how prevention begins with awareness. Later in the episode, we answer common caregiver questions about trafficking, online safety, and warning signs. We also discuss what to do if you are concerned about a child in your life.
